How to remove dark circles with mint

Dark circles can be very unsightly, making you look tired or sick. The causes vary from stress, lack of sleep, age, contamination or allergens to an inadequate diet.

Women usually use eye creams, concealer, eye correctors or other cosmetic products to conceal dark circles, but unfortunately, the aggressive chemicals in these products do more harm than good, damaging the skin.

For some, sleeping well solves the problem of dark circles under the eyes. For others, more effort is needed. There are numerous home remedies that are very efficient, based on milk, mint or witch hazel. Here are some tricks on how you can use mint to prevent discoloration around the eyes.

How can mint help?

Mint leaves contain menthol that improves circulation, rejuvenates the skin and unifies the skin tone around the eyes. It is also a natural astringent, which contracts the blood vessels around the eyes, reducing the blue dye that is reflected through the skin. Peppermint has soothing properties that relax the eyes while flavonoids eliminate free radicals.

Mint leaves

Take some mint leaves, put them in a blender and turn them into a paste. Apply the paste on the skin under the eyes and leave it for 10 minutes. Use a damp cloth to clean it. Repeat every day

Mint, Lemon and Tomato

Mix some mint leaves with half a tomato and add a tablespoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice and a pinch of salt. Stir well and drink it. Do this several times a day, but always use fresh juice to take advantage of its maximum benefits. You can also apply the juice in the dark circles and rinse with cold water after 10 minutes.

Mint and olive oil

Mix the mint leaves with two tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil. Apply the mixture under the eyes and leave for 30 minutes. Rinse with warm water and dry. Repeat daily.

Mint and potato

Take a small potato, peel it and cut it into pieces. Mix with three tablespoons of water and seven mint leaves. Cut a cotton pad in half, immerse the pieces in the mixture and place in the refrigerator for an hour. Apply them under the eyes and leave them for 15-20 minutes.

Mint and rose water

Mix the mint leaves with two tablespoons of rose water and refrigerate the mixture overnight. In the morning, strain the juice, soak two cotton pads and apply over the eyes. Leave on for 15 minutes, rinse with cold water and dry.

Mint and cucumber

Peel and chop a cucumber and mix it with a handful of mint leaves. Apply the mixture under the eyes and leave on for 10 minutes. Rinse with warm water and dry.

Mint and ice cubes

Mix a handful of mint leaves with ¼ cup of water. Pour the mixture into an ice tray and put in the freezer. Use the mint ice cubes to massage the area under the eyes for 30 to 60 seconds. Dry with pats and repeat each day.
