E. coli infections – Symptoms, causes and natural antibacterial treatments

Filed in: Natural Remedies.

Escherichia coli, also known as E. coli, is a bacterium that lives in our intestines and is part of the normal flora of the intestinal tract. It has numerous beneficial functions, such as producing vitamin K2 or preventing the infiltration of harmful bacteria.

E. coli infections - Symptoms, causes and natural antibacterial treatments

The German bacteriologist and pediatrician, Theodor Escherich, discovered this bacterium in 1885 and, as a result, gave it his name. E. coli bacteria look like small rods. Most strains of E. coli bacteria are harmless, except for the O157: H7 stereotype that produces a toxin known as Shiga that is extremely harmful to the mucosa of the small intestine. It can cause food poisoning infections.

Normally, a healthy adult can recover from an E. coli infection in 5 to 7 days. However, when dealing with children, young people, the elderly and people with a weak immune system, several complications can occur.

E. coli – symptoms

The symptoms of an E. coli infection may appear 1, 3 or 4 days after the infection is installed. Sometimes, they are visible after a week. You should know that many people infected with Escherichia coli do not report any noticeable symptoms, but they can spread the infection to others.

– Abdominal pain (severe and sudden cramps)

– Fatigue and weakness.

– Watery diarrhea (which usually occurs a few hours after cramps)

– fever

– Nausea and vomiting

– Bloody stools caused by intestinal injuries.

If diarrhea persists, is severe or bloody, you should go to the doctor immediately.

– Diets rich in fibers.

– Consumption of contaminated food (minced beef, unpasteurized milk or raw vegetables)

– Contact with contaminated animals (in farms, zoos or cattle fairs)

– Physical contact with an infected person.

– Do not wash your hands after using public toilets.

E. coli – Natural Remedies

The risks of a bacterial infection by E. coli increase when it comes to obese people, people with weak immunity, patients with stomach surgery, people with reduced gastric acidity, children, young people and the elderly.

In addition, the consumption of foods such as soft cheese, raw milk, apple juice or undercooked meat can increase the chances of developing the bacteria. For this reason, dairy products, fatty or fiber-rich products, as well as raw vegetables and fruits can only make symptoms worse.

Homemade recipe

This medicine is extremely beneficial for any bacterial infection, not only for E. coli. The ingredients are extremely simple:

– 250 g of parsley root

– 200 ml of olive oil.

– 250 g of lemons, including their shells.

– 200 g of honey

Wash the parsley root and lemons with apple cider vinegar and then chop them in the chopper. Put the mixture in a blender, adding honey and olive oil. Mix well until a homogeneous product is obtained and then keep it in the refrigerator, in a glass jar with a lid.

Take 1 tablespoon before breakfast and another spoonful at night, after dinner, until you finish the product. Once the treatment is finished, you should check if the bacteria has disappeared. If not, you can repeat the treatment one more time.

Onion

Scientific studies have shown that onions have the ability to fight against E. coli, Helicobacter pylori, which causes stomach ulcers and Salmonella infections. All this is due to the quercetin and sulfur compounds in the onion.

In addition, several other studies have shown that onions have antibacterial actions against streptococci that cause decay and against 2 other microbes that cause gingivitis.

The most powerful antibacterial effect was observed in the raw and freshly cut onion. Equally beneficial is garlic. 2 – 3 cloves of garlic per day can do wonders.
