1. Coconut butter is more versatile for cooking

5. Coffee cream without dairy

I have been adding coconut oil to my morning coffee for many years. While this is an excellent way to get that first scoop of CO that increases energy, there is only one small problem. A few seconds after removing it, the oil floats to the top. (And yes, you can use a blender to solve this little problem, but first thing in the morning, a loud device is the last thing I want to hear).

As with coffee, coconut butter can be mixed with cocoa powder to make a hot and delicious cup of hot cocoa. To do this, pour a jug with 3/4 hot water. Mix 1 – 2 tablespoons of coconut butter with one tablespoon of unsweetened cocoa powder and add the natural sweetener of your choice. Stir until well combined and all the cocoa powder has dissolved.

7. Sauteed Vegetable Oil

Another task that coconut butter has taken from my faithful coconut oil is that of frying vegetables. Because it tolerates high temperatures very well, coconut butter (like oil) is very suitable for work. And you can skip almost anything with it. My personal favorites: asparagus and fresh green beans. Add a pinch of salt to the mix to highlight the sweetness of the vegetables!

8. Creamy tomato sauces

Make jazz with any and all of your tomato-based sauces (made at home or purchased at the store) by adding a tablespoon or two of coconut butter. It will improve the flavor of your sauce while increasing the bioavailability of certain nutrients in tomatoes and add your own unique health benefits.

Coconut milk is a common ingredient in curry. You can use coconut butter for a similar effect. As with tomato sauces, butter adds something extra, both of nutrients and flavor.

How to make your own homemade coconut butter

This is a pretty simple recipe, although it takes some practice to get it right. (But even if it's not perfect the first couple of times you do, we guarantee that your coconut butter will still taste delicious!)

Step 1: The preparation work.

Before starting, of course, you must gather your ingredients and equipment. This is what you will need.

– a food processor (I use this little beauty.)

– a silicone spatula for cake (something like this.)

– pieces of raw coconut, without sugar (Bob & # 39; s Red Mill It is always a safe choice.

– A pinch or two of salt (optional)

– A resealable glass bottle for storage (You can get them here.)

Step 2: Transform the coconut into butter.

This entire process takes about 20 minutes from start to finish, once you start mashing the coconut pieces. So start by pouring 2 coconut cups into the food processor. Secure the lid and hit the puree.

Every minute (or less) you will hear the blades begin to buzz as if they were not cutting anything but air. This happens because they are doing just that. When you hear it: stop the blades, open the lid and scrape the coconut from the sides. Remove the spatula, replace the lid, press the puree. Repeat.

You will do this many, many times.

Along the way, you should notice a couple of specific changes in the coconut while processing the food. After a few minutes, the coconut will become lumpy and will have nothing to do with the pasta. This is good. Keep going.

Around 5 to 10 minutes, your coconut will have the consistency of a very grainy paste. (Now we are getting somewhere! Stop, scrape, cover, press, repeat). Continue. You are almost there.

Finally, after about 20 minutes, your coconut will have transformed into velvety white butter. The texture will be that of a high quality natural walnut butter, still slightly granulated but spreadable.

Step 3: Store, Chill & Enjoy!

Transfer the finished coconut butter to a clean glass jar and store it in the refrigerator. As with coconut oil, your butter will be solid and quite hard when it is cold. However, heat it to around 76ºF / 24ºC and it will become melty and stiff once more.

(Keep in mind: Many have recommended NOT using a large blender for this project. The lateral scraping every 30 – 60 seconds is apparently much more difficult in a tall jar. So, if you have a food processor, use it. If you do not, you can consider getting one before trying this recipe.)

Ok I have it! Now what?

Once it is good to make regular coconut butter, consider trying toasted coconut butter for a small variation of flavor. It is as easy as toast for the pieces of coconut Before adding them to the food processor. Remember, all things in moderation. Coconut butter (toast or regular) is delicious, but it is also highly caloric. So enjoy your new tasty treat, but also enjoy it responsibly!
