Greater Celandine or Chelidonium Majus has a long history of use, particularly in Europe, but also in traditional Chinese medicine. The ancient Greeks used the plant as an effective detoxifying agent, while the Romans used it as a blood cleanser. French herbalist Maurice Mességué mentioned celandine tea as an effective remedy for liver problems.
Benefits of Greater Celandine
The extract of celandine is rich in antioxidant properties, and this led the plant to be included in herbal remedies designed to support the liver and the biliary tract. The plant also contains chelidonic acid that can alleviate the discomfort caused by certain harmful organisms. It can relieve the symptoms of ulcerative colitis, upset stomach, irritable bowel syndrome, stomach cancer, gallbladder disorders, high blood pressure and osteoarthritis.
The juice of the plant can be applied directly to the skin to treat warts, eczema, rashes and scabies, or on the gums to treat tooth pain.
Celandine can also be consumed as a powder, syrup, infusion, tincture or by using its juice for various medical conditions.
Take some varieties of Celandine and let them dry in the sun. Then tritúrelos in a fine powder and keep it in glass jars with a lid for a maximum of three weeks. After this period, it loses medicinal properties.
You can prepare your own tincture by adding 15 tablespoons of Celandine powder to 400 ml of alcohol at 50 °. Put a lid on the container and let it marinate for 14 days. Strain into a bottle and keep it in a dark and cool place.

The next day, filter the liquid and mix it with 200 grams of honey until it is completely dissolved. Keep the syrup in a bottle in the fridge.
