A superior alternative to canola oil, and indeed the healthiest cooking oil, is and always has been olive oil. Like canola oil, it is rich in monounsaturated fats, which help reduce "unhealthy" LDL cholesterol and increase "healthy" HDL cholesterol without the toxic effects of canola.
