10 tips for a good fit of shoes!
Years of wear can be difficult for our feet. The same applies to diseases, bad circulation, badly cut toenails and the use of shoes that do not fit well. Problems with our feet can be the first sign of more serious medical conditions such as arthritis, diabetes, and nervous and circulatory disorders.
What can you do to prevent foot problems?
Practice good foot care. Check your feet regularly or ask a family member to review them. Podiatrists and primary care physicians (internists and family physicians) are qualified to treat the majority foot problems. Sometimes the special skills of an orthopedic surgeon or dermatologist are needed. It also helps keep blood circulating at your feet as much as possible. To do this, raise your feet when you are sitting or lying down, stretch if you have had to sit for a long time, walk, perform a gentle foot massage or take a warm footbath. Try to avoid pressure from shoes that do not fit well. Try not to expose your feet to cold temperatures.

The size of your feet changes as you get older, so you should always measure your feet before buying shoes. The best time to measure your feet is at the end of the day when your feet are larger. Most of us have one foot larger than the other, so adjust your shoe to your largest foot. Do not select the shoes by the size marked inside the shoe, but by how the shoe fits your foot. Select a shoe that has the shape of your foot. During the adjustment process, make sure there is enough space (3/8 "to 1/2") for your longest toe at the end of each shoe when standing. Make sure that the ball of your foot fits comfortably in the widest part of the shoe. Do not buy shoes that feel too tight and wait for them to stretch so they fit. Your heel should fit comfortably in the shoe with a minimum amount of slip; Shoes should not rise and fall on your heel when you walk. Walk in shoes to make sure they fit and feel good. Then take them home and spend some time walking on the carpet to make sure the fit is right. The upper part of the shoes should be made of a soft and flexible material that suits the shape of your foot. Shoes made of leather can reduce the possibility of skin irritations. The soles should provide a solid foundation and not be slippery. Thick soles cushion your feet when walking on hard surfaces. Low-heeled shoes are more comfortable, safer and less damaging than high-heeled shoes.
